If you want to speak English clearly and confidently then you have to have good pronunciation of English words.
Everybody wants to be able to speak English like a native speaker, but English pronunciation is always a big problem to English learners.
Bad English pronunciation confuses people even if you used advanced English grammar. We can use simple words and simple grammar structures that make people understand you but we cannot use "simple pronunciation". Good English pronunciation makes people understand you easily and be willing to listen to you! You will say that we learn English just for communication, although we speak English with a strong accent, native speakers can understand us, that's enough. But you know it is not pleased to listen to the bad pronunciation! Also,one will change the channel when a journalist covers a person who speaks English without good pronunciation, because that make him/her feel uncomfortable although he/her can't pronounce English fluently as well.
Learning how to pronounce a foreign language like a native speaker is difficult but not impossible. The better your pronunciation, the better people will understand you and the easier you will find it to understand them.
So, how to speak English clearly and confidently? There are three ways: listen, listen and listen! Yes you have to listen to that English audio lessons which are recorded by native English speakers, like ELP's lessons. There are no such classes for learning pronunciation or every single word, nor in any language institute pronunciation is being taught. There are thousand of English words, you can not learn each word's pronunciation one by one. The best way to learn correct pronunciation is to listen as much as you can. Like the stories and all audio lessons of ELP, are narrated by Native English speakers. Which means you listen to the correct pronunciation of every word and you learn correct pronunciation just by listening. Remember! You can not learn pronunciation of each word one by one.
If your language course includes a recorded pronunciation guide and exercises, listen to them until you have internalized all the points, but do not try to learn everything at once.
If you have a friend who is Native English speaker, then that would be really helpful to you. Ask him to speak slowly and to enunciate each word clearly. Then try to copy or mimic them. Pay attention to the shapes their lips make, and also to their posture and any gestures they make. It is very important to learn pronunciation by listening to Native English speaker. DO NOT try to copy your teacher who is not a Native English speaker. If you don't have any Native English speaker friend then listen to audio lessons which are in voices of native speaker.
